Why Are Watercolour Paints So Good?

Why Are Watercolour Paints So Good?

Watercolour paint is such a great medium to use, here are some of the reasons why I love it.

Watercolour paint is long lasting
I have a set that is over ten years old and I have friends who pulled out sets from primary school in the 1980s and they still work. If it dries out in a tube you can still dip a brush in there and it will work. The acrylic and oil paints I've had for ages end up in a sorry state of affairs, but watercolour paints still keep going.

Watercolour paint goes a long way
You can have a palette and it can last through a lot of artworks. It's great value for money because a little really does go a long way.

Watercolour paint is flexible
You can make a mistake and paint over it with another colour. Or you can remove it completely with a clean wet brush. You can go over it with another medium, like a pencil or market. There are lots of options.

Watercolour paint is liquid colour
I love the look of it on the brush, and the way it moves on the paper. There is something special about liquid colour and manipulating it around the place.

Watercolour paint had variety
Even if you're using one colour, the variation in tone and texture really can change depending on how much or little water you add. This variety makes it so interesting and allows you to get a real range even with a handful of colours.
